Storied Places
Don't you love the library? There's something so special about a place filled with books, an entire building devoted to stories that can teach you anything or take you anywhere. I recently saw this roundup of the world's most beautiful public libraries, and it got my imagination running. Here are a few, from Rome, Mexico City, Amsterdam, Stuttgart and Paris.

Enchanted Evening
Last night my book club met at an outdoor concert our city's chamber orchestra holds every summer. It's such a lovely event, and it was made even better by a group of friends getting together to lounge on blankets, sip wine and munch on snacks, discuss a book, listen to music, people watch, catch up and simply enjoy a beautiful summer evening together.

Jane Addiction
Do you like Jane Austen books? I love them! Sense and Sensibility, Pride and Prejudice -- I turn to these stories over and over and never tire of them. So I let out a little squeal of delight when I noticed these prints on Etsy. Aren't they great?

Happy Weekend!
It's Friday at last and the weekend is nearly here. I'm hoping for a few days of relaxing and getting caught up in a new book. Have you read anything good lately? I always love suggestions.

A Great Read
Yikes! I can't believe it's been so long since I last posted. I have been sick for the past week. It wasn't the most fun way to spend a long holiday weekend, but I must admit it was nice to relax.
I napped, dug into magazines, watched a few movies and finished a wonderful book, Broken for You by Stephanie Kallos.
It's a wonderful, and wonderfully engaging, story, mainly about two very different women dealing with very different struggles. My favorite thing about the book is how I grew to love the characters slowly, naturally and without even realizing it. I also liked how the home the two women inhabit -- as well as their lives -- slowly and naturally fill with other characters.
This beautiful story is definitely worth reading. And if being sick allowed me to delve completely into it, then I'm grateful for having this bout of the flu!

Book It
I've noticed this quiz making its way through Facebook. It's pretty neat.
The quiz says, "The BBC believes most people will have read only six of the 100 books here. How do your reading habits stack up?"
Here's the list -- and how well I'm doing.
1 Pride and Prejudice - Jane Austen -- I love Jane Austin and I love this book.
2 The Lord of the Rings - JRR Tolkien -- I know it doesn’t count but I’ve seen all the movies because of my husband.
3 Jane Eyre - Charlotte Bronte -- I would like to read it.
4 Harry Potter series - JK Rowling -- Ditto #2.
5 To Kill a Mockingbird - Harper Lee -- I read this freshman year of high school and liked it.
6 The Bible – I’ve read a lot of it, but want to know all of it more thoroughly.
7 Wuthering Heights - Emily Bronte -- I have this book but haven’t made it all the way through yet.
8 Nineteen Eighty Four - George Orwell -- I read this in honors English in high school and it blew me away. I still think about it.
9 His Dark Materials - Philip Pullman
10 Great Expectations - Charles Dickens -- Great book.
11 Little Women - Louisa M Alcott -- Lovely book (and there’s also a lovely movie version with Susan Sarandon, Claire Danes and Winona Ryder).
12 Tess of the D'Urbervilles - Thomas Hardy -- I adored this book in high school.
13 Catch 22 - Joseph Heller
14 Complete Works of Shakespeare -- I haven’t read all of it but I’d like to read more.
15 Rebecca - Daphne Du Maurier
16 The Hobbit - JRR Tolkien
17 Birdsong - Sebastian Faulk
