Weekend in the City

My husband and I spent a long weekend in Chicago, and it was an absolutely wonderful trip. We stayed in cool hotels, ate some fantastic meals, strolled through parks, went on an architectural cruise, checked out a blues club, shopped and did a lot of walking through the city. That's one of our favorite things to do -- explore a place by walking it. And it's a great way to see this city and feel the energy of all its incredible buildings. Even though we visit Chicago quite often, this trip left us with a deeper appreciation for -- and connection with -- the fascinating city.

Summer Moments

Today we're headed to Chicago for a long weekend. A visit to the city is on my summer musts list, and I'm truly looking forward to the getaway. There are a few activities on the list that I still want to do, but I've had a great time accomplishing many of them so far this summer.

My husband and I sipped drinks at a downtown rooftop bar.

I had a completely relaxing pool day at my parents' house.

And I took a bike ride on a pretty trail through woods and farmland.

Here's to making the most of all of summer's great moments!

Summer Musts

Yikes! How can it almost be the end of June? I feel like I haven't fully grasped summer yet. So, inspired by Jillian's summer bucket list over on the lovely Cornflake Dreams, here are my personal must-dos for the rest of summer:

Go on a bike ride somewhere pretty.

Stroll a farmers' market.

Have a pool day.

Take a trip to Chicago.

Rent a canoe and get out on the water.

Grab cocktails on a rooftop.

How about you?

Chicago Chic

I'm heading to Chicago today, and in honor of this little trip I thought I'd poke around a sleek Chicago home, featured on Apartment Therapy. I love the clean aesthetic and bold artwork, and a pink kitchen isn't something you see every day. Enjoy!

In the City

Chicago is a fun city. Whenever I visit, the energy of the place leaves me equally breathless and excited. I love simply standing within it, tall buildings towering around me, people bustling by. There are so many areas to explore, some glamorous, others tough, making each visit a completely different experience. This screenprint by breeree somehow manages to be simultaneously gritty and sunny -- quite a fitting homage to the place.

Windy City Weekend

My husband and I spent the weekend in Chicago. It's a great city with incredible energy. I always enjoy simply walking around and taking in the views. And perhaps this visit more than any before afforded us with fantastic spots to see the skyline and skyscrapers. The short getaway has me feeling energized for the week ahead!
