Simple Joys

What a nice weekend this was! My husband and I made no plans so we could do whatever we felt like in the moment. We ended up with two days of simple pleasures: Watching the Olympics. Taking the pup for a walk. Making a breakfast of fresh strawberries and yogurt. Settling in with a stack of new magazines. I hope you had a lovely weekend too!

Instead of going to work today, how about we all relax at this backyard cabana? I'l bring chips and salsa and some summery drinks!

As the weekend approaches, my wishlist is pretty simple. I'd like to sleep and eat really well! Some other excitement might be in the works, but I'm making these two things my priority.

Hello, Weekend

There's a chill in the air and a long weekend ahead of us. I couldn't be happier! This decidedly fall-ish weather has me wanting to spend the next few days curled up on the chaise with a book, a cup of tea and my dog.

Or perhaps I'll daydream about Bloom, a stunningly stylish B&B in Venice. I came across photos this week and my mind keeps wandering back to these lush rooms.

Dog Tired

What a day! What a week! Whew, I am beat and so glad the weekend is starting. Currently my plans are: husband, dog, me, couch ... and that's all. Anything beyond that doesn't really matter right now.

A Perfect Mix

The weekend's winding down but I have a huge smile on my face because this has been a fantastic two days. It brought the ideal mix -- for me, anyway -- of going out, staying in, relaxing and getting stuff done around the house.

And today my husband and I pampered our little pooch with a big walk and a trip to her favorite pet store for treats. So I think she had a good weekend, too.

Lazy Days

Do you ever have a weekend that goes just how you'd hoped it would? Well, that's what happened to me this weekend.

With my husband out of town, the pup and I took the opportunity to spend the weekend at my parents' house. And it was blissful!

Maybe it's because my parents' house will probably always feel more like home to me than anywhere else on earth. Or because my mom and dad spoil me with good food and great conversation whenever I'm there.

But it was more this weekend, too. We enjoyed gorgeous weather, which I took as a cue to do absolutely nothing. I lounged outside, swam, read magazines and napped.

And I took in the beautiful forests and fields that spread out behind my parents' backyard. Not a bad spot to spend a few days, eh?
