Dress Dreaming

Living in a place with such drastically different seasons, I love when I find clothes that can work year-round. These cute dresses from Ruche seem like that sort. In the middle of winter, I'd throw a cozy cardigan on top or maybe even a long tee or turtleneck underneath, and add warm tights and tall boots or smart heels. Then come spring, I'd shed those extra layers and pair the frocks with a light topper and sandals or peep-toes. I can't relegate ruffles, stripes, lace and florals to just one time year!

Seasonal Beauty

I love the change of seasons. And I love living in a place that experiences the change of seasons. Judging by her pastel landscapes, I get the feeling that artist Clare Malloy shares this appreciation. Her work is amazing. From the subtle changes in color and shadows to a sense of starkness and stillness, she brilliantly captures what it feels like to be in such a place.

Take a look at a few of her works. Can't you pinpoint exactly the time of year she's rendered? And don't you feel like you're right there in the midst of it?

Breathless

It snowed again today. I realize this shouldn't come as a surprise, seeing as though it's only mid-February. It's just that I somehow came to the conclusion that we were done with snow, that it was time for winter to pack up and leave town.

Now I also realize I have a choice in this matter. That I could pack up and leave town and head for somewhere that doesn't get burried under feet of ice and snow each year. But I did that once and the funny thing is I missed the seasons. Not months of winter, necessarily, but the changes and the fact that spring feels so incredible following seemingly endless winters.

So I'm going to quit whining and try to embrace the cold. And if I can't quite do that, I'm going to take a look at these breathtaking beach photos by SussanahT. The muted colors and the calmness of the landscape are perfection.
