Dressing the Part
Each year when the weather turns warm, I begin to ignore the pants in my closet. Instead, each morning I turn to dresses. They're just so easy -- throw on a cardigan, shoes and jewelry and I'm ready to go! I'd love to add any of these dresses from Boden, with their cool hues and pretty prints, to my spring wardrobe mix.

Sunshine Day
Saturday was pretty much a perfect day. It began with my mom and me taking the pup for a hike (she was quite the dirty dog by the end of it!) and continued with relaxing by the pool. My dad came out to join us, followed by my sister and her husband and baby, and then my husband. My mom brought out drinks and appetizers, and we swam, talked and laughed until we headed inside for a family dinner. I hope this beautiful day is a preview of more to come this summer!

Happy Weekend!
I have lots of plans for the weekend. I'd like to spring clean the house, tackle some organization projects and plant flowers outside. I may swing by some garage sales with my mom, and my husband and I have a party to attend. Or ... I might end up taking the next two days to simply relax. That's acceptable when you're pregnant, right? Hopefully come Monday, something -- my house or me -- will feel refreshed!
Have a wonderful weekend!

Thankful
Every once in a while, I'm overwhelmed with the beauty in what's around me. For a bit of time, I'm able to appreciate with an enhanced sense little blessings: flowers blooming, sunshine on my face, seeing a butterfly, feeling the perfect weight of my pup in my arms. I love it!

Flowering
I've loved noticing lately how trees are blooming and flowering. Doesn't that sight make you happy? These recent paintings by Jen Garrido give me the same feeling.
The artist writes in a statement, "I favor forms that are nature-based and that tangle and overlap, lean, sit and hold. In my newest works, the compositions are hybrid and formal, have moments of representation and are infused with a sense of movement. I bring together shapes and lines that are biomorphic, animated and gestural. The ways in which the forms sit, touch, tangle and lay creates a space that is open to narrative."

Garden Variety
I realize I'm on a bit of a spring kick, but I can't help it! Some flowers in our front yard are already pushing up through the dirt, and I can't wait to see them bloom. I'm not a gardener, so I love that these flowers simply show up each year. It would be nice to add a similar feel inside my home, and these wildly beautiful paintings by Yangyang Pan would be ideal.

Springing Ahead
This weekend was lovely. The weather was unusually warm, which meant we took lots of walks outside and opened the windows of our house to let in fresh air. (And of course I forgot to set my clocks ahead; I never remember daylight saving's time!)
While I know it's too early to pack up my sweaters and boots, I am dreaming about sundresses and spring-y colors. Diane von Furstenberg's spring 2012 collection -- with its easy yet ladylike silhouettes and soft, pretty hues -- seems like the ideal aesthetic to set my sights on now.

Warming Up
It was a lovely weekend. The weather was gorgeous and we took lots of walks outside. I love this time of year, and all I want to wear are dresses, dresses, dresses. I like combining them with light cardigans and pretty sandals now and ditching the extra layer when the weather gets even warmer. Any of these dresses from Blanco would make quite a nice addition to my collection -- and help me look forward to the sunny weeks ahead.

Simple Plans
Ahhh, it's Friday and the weekend is almost here. I'm looking forward to a family dinner, gallery hopping with my husband, lots of relaxation and some walks with the pup now that spring has arrived. Happy weekend to all!

Dress Up
I'll be spending today with my mom, sister and little nephew. We're planning to go shopping and I hope to come home with some pretty spring clothes. Gorgeous dresses are definitely on my list, and these lovely frocks from Queen's Wardrobe are nice inspiration.

Screen Style
Each year when spring rolls around, I get a little angst-y. Even though I've been out of high school for years, I can't quite shake out of spring-fever, school's-almost-out, wanna-be-free mode.
The movie that captures these feelings best is Dazed and Confused, set on the last day of school in 1976. It's a fun flick about friendships and hookups, popularity and parties. And the fashion's pretty cool too, all bell-bottom jeans, wedge sandals, vests and psychedelic-print tops.
Given this inspiration and since '70s style is a big trend this spring, here are a few pieces I'd love to wear -- even if I'm not cutting class or heading to a kegger.
