White Out

Maybe it's all the stories I've been hearing from snowed-in friends in D.C., but I have been craving white lately. There's something so calming yet comforting about it. Even as my own home is surrounded by snow, I'm dreaming about soft white rooms.

So I was delighted to find this white interiors set on Flickr. Here are a few of my favorite images:

Aren't these letterpress As from Briar Press neat? Each is so beautiful and thoughtfully made. It makes me happy that so much care can go into something as ubiquitous as the letter A.

Best of Both Worlds

One of the few downsides to clean-lined, contemporary design is that the style can sometimes feel cold and sterile. That's why this Manhattan penthouse, featured in the New York Times, is so perfect. It has the crisp, unfussy lines I love but also the natural materials and leafy greens that I crave in a space.

Le Sigh

I like to think if I lived in Paris, I would dress the part. By that I mean I hope I would appear effortlessly chic with a style that wasn't over-the-top and that was all my own. If that ever happens -- and even if it doesn't -- I will take my cue from Alix of the cherry blossom girl. Her sense of fashion is pretty spectacular, even when her clothes are in hushed, muted shades.

Blog it Forward

I am so excited for a new project starting this week. Victoria at sfgirlbybay has organized a blogger mash-up -- and I get to be a part of it! Starting Wednesday, ten bloggers will write about what inspires them, and then they'll link to another blogger who will do the same. Oh, Happy Day

My, this weekend flew by! I can hardly recount how I spent the hours but they sure seemed to go by quickly. But while I can't say I was ready for the work week to start, I don't want to be a person who grumbles about Mondays. Poor Mondays. They really are the most unappreciated day, aren't they?

Well, I want to stay as positive as possible about them and the start of a new work week. And this sunny print by Samantha Hahn (available at The Shiny Squirrel) seems like the perfect reminder.
