Perfectly Timed

As much as I want to deny it, summer is winding down. Maybe that's why this lovely Southampton home, featured on House Beautiful, struck a chord with me. Wouldn't this be a relaxing place to soak up the final days of summer?

Happy Day

Tomorrow is a special day for my husband and me. It's our wedding anniversary -- our seventh! I can't believe so much time has passed between now and then but they've been an absolutely amazing seven years. We've moved across the country several times, made it through grad school and into jobs we love, got a puppy, bought a house and taken some fantastic trips. But through all this, my favorite parts have been simply spending time with him. I love our life together and I can't wait to see what happens next.

By the way, aren't these couples silhouettes beautiful? They're by Jenny Lee Fowler.

Happy Weekend

Boy, am I tired today. I'm so glad the weekend is nearly here. I'm up for some serious relaxation! And thanks to this adorable print by Love Sugar, I'm reminded that I should make time for hanging out with my favorite peeps.

Have a great weekend!

Simply Gorgeous

Fashion is bringing a lot of exciting trends this year. But what I'm probably happiest about is a return to minimalism. I've always been drawn to clean lines and simple shapes, so it will be neat to see how this plays out in the way people dress.

TSE's resort 2011 collection is a good example of this aesthetic. Aren't the unfussy silhouettes and precise tailoring gorgeous?

Glam Tuesday

When I saw the September issue of Elle, I was blown away by the gorgeous photos of Julia Roberts. Three different shoots represented the three locations in Eat, Pray, Love. All were gorgeous, by I couldn't stop staring at this one:

Here's wishing everyone an utterly glamorous Tuesday!

Home Sweet Home

I hope everyone had a great weekend. Mine was a lot of fun. It was so nice to get away and see family, yet it was wonderful to be home again. Ahh, there really is no place like your own place.

When I saw this gorgeous home on MadeByGirl, I made note of it. I knew I'd want to return to it for inspiration. Isn't it lovely? Aren't those dashes of yellow fantastic? I doubt anyone could be in a bad mood living here.

Take a look:

Happy Weekend

Whew! The week has flown by and I'm so glad the weekend is here. We're off for a big family get-together up north. I'm looking forward to catching up with loved ones, eating lots of food and laughing constantly. The plan is to go to the beach tomorrow if it's nice out or go for a long hike if it isn't. And if things go as normal, dinner will stretch out into cocktails and later we'll walk into town for some dancing. But no matter what we do, I'm grateful for the promise of an effortless, carefree, fun few days ahead.

Happy weekend to all!

Prints Charming

I love the graphic quality of these pillow cases and towels by Branch Handmade. The images are quirky and beautiful and definitely add personality to everyday items. Enjoy!

Minor Obsession

I love delicate jewelry. Thin chains, tiny jewels -- the kind of pieces that don't scream out for attention but are beautiful when you catch a glimpse of them. And if they rest along the collarbone, that's perfection.

Edor jewelry (pleasantly discovered via A Cup of Joe) is exactly this kind. Here are a few gorgeous small pieces I've fallen for:

Quick Trip

We're back from our little getaway, and the trip was so nice. Northern Florida is an area I'd never visited, and it's always great to see a new place. Here are a few scenes from the trip.

Little Getaway

Hopefully at this time tomorrow, my husband and I will be on the beach in Florida. We're heading off on a very brief trip that I think should be a lot of fun. I'll be back with photos next week, but in the meantime, please enjoy this lovely one.

Home Sweet Home

This past weekend was absolutely lovely. Believe it or not, that included cleaning my house top to bottom. It was so satisfying! While my husband and I still have lots of projects we'd like to tackle in practically every room, I love nestling into our living room when it's nice and tidy. Ahhh ...

Happy Friday

It's an absolutely gorgeous day, and the fact that it's Friday makes it even better. Going into this weekend, I'm very mindful that summer days don't last forever. I want to make the most of it! Here's what I'm hoping to experience:

See: my husband's smiling face when he gets home from work and the weekend officially begins
Hear: the laughter of my mom, dad, sister, brother-in-law and husband at dinner tonight
Taste: a glass of wine when I catch up with one of my best friends
Smell: the aroma of fresh-cut grass when we take the pup for walks around the neighborhood
Feel: the sun on my skin as I savor the warm days

Happy weekend, everyone!

Calm and Cool

I'd love to live in a loft. I like the idea of infusing a sense of home into a more industrial-style space. If I ever had the opportunity, perhaps I'd decorate like this Melbourne warehouse, featured in Living Etc. I love the dashes of black against the white backdrops, the crisp yet calm design, the graphic prints and patterns. So cool.

Easy Does It

It's August. How did that happen? Inevitably around this time of year everyone seems to jump ahead, lamenting that summer is over and beginning preparations for fall. Not yet, I say. It's still summer and I am not going to think about another season until I absolutely have to.

A clothing line that seems perfectly suited to easing into seasonal transition is Brochu Walker. Their pieces are so chic in their simplicity, and they seem lovely to layer. I pretty much want everything from their website, to wear now as well as into the months ahead.
