Date-iversary

Eleven years ago tonight, I went on the first date with my husband. I met him over winter break my freshman year of college and was eager to get to know him better. On our first few dates, I learned he was so much fun, easy to talk to, insanely cute and incredibly funny ... and I'm happy to say he's all these things -- and much more -- today. He's my full love and my true partner on this adventure of life, and I'm so grateful to be celebrating our date-iversary tonight.

Happy Day

Tomorrow is a special day for my husband and me. It's our wedding anniversary -- our seventh! I can't believe so much time has passed between now and then but they've been an absolutely amazing seven years. We've moved across the country several times, made it through grad school and into jobs we love, got a puppy, bought a house and taken some fantastic trips. But through all this, my favorite parts have been simply spending time with him. I love our life together and I can't wait to see what happens next.

By the way, aren't these couples silhouettes beautiful? They're by Jenny Lee Fowler.

A Happy Anniversary

A year ago today, I started this little blog. I had no idea what I was doing but wanted to give myself the chance to learn along the way. It began as a way to collect ideas, images and words that spoke to me -- and I'm happy to say that's still what it is! One thing that has surprised me, however, is what a joy it is to be more mindfully on the lookout for beauty and inspiration. I think that may be my favorite part of blogging so far.

Home Sweet Home

We're back from vacation, relaxed, tanned and happy. It's truly the perfect balance when you can enjoy a trip but also feel good to be back home.

And the timing of returning-- and being glad to be in our own house and sleep in our own bed and see our pup again -- is special. Today is the tenth anniversary of my first date with my husband. We were young college kids and the experience of falling in love with him is something I wouldn't trade for the world. I love the adventures we've had together and I hope for many more in the future.
