Right at Home

Good morning! I hope you had a great weekend. Mine was very relaxing, with lots of time spent reading. Sometimes it's nice just to hunker down at home and enjoy just being there.

I'd imagine it would be quite pleasant to spend time in this Virginia home, featured on Apartment Therapy. The huge windows and open floor plan are great, but I especially like the details -- the black and white elements, global accents and little surprises like a mini disco ball on display.

Happy Days

After a lovely Thanksgiving yesterday, which included a nice dinner with my in-laws, I couldn't be happier about the long weekend ahead. Our only plans are seeing friends who are in town. With the rest of our time, I'm hoping to tackle some projects around the house and relax in a major way!

Wouldn't this New York home, featured on Apartment Therapy, be a pretty fabulous place to unwind and entertain on a long holiday weekend?

Priorities

What I like most about this Manhattan apartment, featured on Apartment Therapy, is that even though it's not even six-hundred square feet, it boasts an incredible art collection. I'd give up some square footage if it meant I got to live with paintings, prints and drawings that would inspire, comfort and intrigue me. Wouldn't you?

Just Beachy

When it comes to interior design, I'm typically not drawn to beachy or shabby-chic style. I like things more streamlined and tailored. Yet I'm digging this Santa Barbara beach cottage featured on Apartment Therapy. It's so sunny and natural but also really feminine and cool. Have a peek:

Brighten Up

My latest quest in decorating my home has been to spruce it up with polished, glamorous, upbeat pieces. And there's some great inspiration to be found in this Utah home featured on Apartment Therapy. The cheery colors and crisp prints feel fresh, and I'm so digging the "K" details.

Here are a few peeks:

Little Things

I'm often reminded of the big impact of small things: the power of a smile, a hug, a letter in the mail, a good meal, a great hair day. And I believe the same approach can be applied to homes. Living with a few items -- and people and pets -- that I love matters more than the size, style or cost of my house. But it's neat to see how much difference a print, pattern or other detail makes in a room.

This Los Angeles home, featured on Apartment Therapy, made me think more about this. The rug in the living room, curtains in the dining room and shower curtain in the bathroom add a lot of impact and interest. And, seriously, how adorable is their sleepy dog?

Chicago Chic

I'm heading to Chicago today, and in honor of this little trip I thought I'd poke around a sleek Chicago home, featured on Apartment Therapy. I love the clean aesthetic and bold artwork, and a pink kitchen isn't something you see every day. Enjoy!

California Dreaming

One of the things I miss most about living in California is the lack of separation between indoor and outdoor spaces. Living rooms open effortlessly to back patios and you can spend time in one just as easily and enjoyably as in the other. You certainly can't say that about Wisconsin this time of year!

When I saw this San Francisco house on Apartment Therapy, it brought me back to the days when I'd wander outside on my lunch hour and spend my free time reading, painting or lounging around in the open air. The charm, greenery, sleek kitchen and cute archways of this house help, too.

A Welcome Home

The first thing I noticed about this Ohio home on Apartment Therapy was how welcoming it seems. It looks like a happy, relaxed place where friends pop by and hang out for a long time. I hope it's that type of home. Let's stop by for a little visit of our own.

Home Sweet Home

I have not yet recovered from the weekend. It was a great time full of birthday celebrations, including a party that started Saturday night and lasted well into Sunday. Since all I've wanted to do is nap on the couch or crawl into bed the past few days, I've been especially enjoying home.

This Chicago condo, showcased on Apartment Therapy, would be a swell place to be, exhausted or otherwise. I like the bold colors and all that great art. Take a look:
